I had already seen Zvilpoggua done as a Herald, but he’s a Great Old One in his own right, so I figured an Ancient One version would be fun too. I took the “Feaster from the Stars” moniker as my inspiration…he eats things…all the time…even while he’s asleep. I think the style of play he encourages will be fun too…everyone loves making Allies, but sometimes you can’t rationalize going for more than one within the time frame of a given game. Now it’s an imperative that you collect those allies, and quickly.

In larger games, there won’t be enough allies to go around…and I think that creates a fun dynamic too…who in the group is willing to be the martyr?

These are still pretty rough…I’m not totally sure about the numbers, especially for Dagon. And Mother Hydra seems a little underpowered to me. But I like Dagon’s special movement ability alot, and making every gate a gate to R’lyeh is pretty nasty (the first time I playtested it, the mechanic was brutal).

There was a lot more to this at one time. Originally, if you played with both heralds, the Southside Church was replaced with an Esoteric Order of Dagon location, and there was a whole new set of encounter cards (with some pretty cool encounters, if I do say so myself). You could become a member of the Order (ala The Silver Twilight Lodge), and could even discover that you have the Innsmouth Look (which is both a Benefit and a Detriment). But something happened when converting between versions of Strange Eons and a bunch of my files were rendered useless. I may redo them at some point…we’ll see.

Edited: Okay, I changed them pretty extensively, while hanging onto the really good parts. These guys should be fun to play with now…
